The dam at Green River Lake was completed in June of 1969 and began holding back the water of Green River, Casey Creek and Robinson Creek as well as other small tributaries. Green River Lake’s primary purpose is to help control flooding downstream, in connection with other reservoirs, all the way to the Ohio River. The recreation that is offered is the main attraction to this lake, situated in Taylor and Adair Counties, in Kentucky. Encompassing 8,200 surface acres of water at summer pool and over 20,000 acres of Wildlife Management Area, Green River Lake can offer something to do for all outdoor enthusiasts.

For those that would prefer to stay on dry land, there’s other activities such as, hiking, wildlife viewing, camping, and even miniature golf. For overnight stays, the campgrounds support tent campers, RV’s, and travel trailers. Various areas of the lake also offer cabins to rent, and there are motels in nearby Campbellsville .
